Soo playing with a Evil char, so have to get the latheren one.. yet no matter how i unlock the box the get hostile and i have to kill them all, any ideas how to get it without destroying the entire temple and his followers?
No, night or day doesn't matter within the temple. The only thing you need is to unlock and steel the statue without enyone seeing it andnobody turnes hostile, quite obvious enought isn't it?
But notice that you can't even unlock the safe if anyone's watching wothout making him/her hostile.

Oddly, I've never been able to complete this quest without sending the cleric with sanctuary in... But, I suppose an invisibility potion would work as well.
Stealth doesn't work because you come out of hiding to open the door...
