Couple of questions actually
1. i bought planescape torment and never played it. it was so visually dark and confusing their could be a door where i never would think of checking. it just got boring though admittedly i didnt give it much of a chance. Plus i like the standard dand d world better.
2. i live the idea of extended character classes and improved graphics for bg2 over bg1 can i just play bg2 or will i miss clues and stuff. i know diehards will say no but what if you just want a fun rpg?
Can i play BG2 if i didnt play BG1?

well, you lost some of the plot but the most important things are explained in the intro and by Imoen.
you are going to miss a chase to have a charecter with higher scores that you could get(a human with 19 str) because of the tomes on BG I, but still you can play BG II without missing anything inportant.(but I suject to buy BG I,It gives a more indeep look on the game and its a good game anyway)
