Misplaced Balmora Npcs

Post by ditmunch »

My search didn't bring anything up about this, so I'll make a new post...

I recently started a new game, and I've noticed that several of the NPCs in Balmora(and possibly other places, though I haven't noticed any) aren't where they're supposed to be. Nine-toes is in Rhavirr's, Sottilde is in the outfitters, Dura Gra-bol is in eight plates, and an npc for a redoran quest that's supposed to be in eight plates, isn't there. I'm using quite a few mods(too many to list), and I'm guessing it's one of them that's doing it, but I've tried turning them all off in the data files menu, and it hasn't fixed anything. I've also tried using Reset Actors, but it hasn't helped, and I'd like to avoid using Placeatpc, since I'd rather not have doubles of all my npcs.

So, the question is, does anyone know of any specific mods/bugs/anything like that, that repositions those NPCs, or any way that I could get them back to where theyre supposed to be, like a console command that teleports an npc to you, rather than placing a new one?

A mod list would really help.

You do know there is one located at the bottom of your Morrowind.ini file that you can copy and paste. :)

Looking at this I can't see any what could be causing the problem, although admittedly I've not played all of those mods (probably around three-quarters of them).

Hopefully somebody else will be able to help though. :)

Do you have a NPC schedual mod? I noticed that you had a mod that locks doors at night. The mod that comes with it is a schedual mod.

At a glance... it looks to me as though it might be "Morrowind Inhabitants" that is causing your trouble...

I haven't played the mod personally though, so it's just a guess.

It might even be causing a conflict with "Balmora Dialogue or the scheduling mod Magelord mentions (assuming you have that installed).

Basically, any plug-ins that modify the same NPCs in terms of schedule and/or dialogue are likely to conflict.

No, not Morrowind Inhabitants. I know that one. But I don't know NPC Replacer. Perhaps it's that.

You could bring up the console, and type TA, hit return, then close it. That might help--though if a mod's causing the problem, it's unlikely.

NPC Replacer is just a reskin mod basically... It replaces the heads and hair of NPCs with those created by the modding community. I've used it for ages and had no troubles at all with it.

Odd...

Thanks to everyone for the help

I'm pretty sure that the night time door lock thing doesn't do anything but lock the doors, but now that you've mentioned schedule mods, I seem to remember there being one when I started the game, but I uninstalled it along with a few other old mods that I didn't think I'd need, and I don't remember the name or anything. But, I guess that's probably what's doing it... maybe I uninstalled it in the middle of the game day before it had a chance to send all the npcs home :<

Now I've just got to get them to go back to where they belong... RA doesn't seem to work, so I guess my best choice is to just use placeatpc in the right place, and then go buy a few frenzy humanoid scrolls for the extras... unless, of course, anyone knows of a better way ^^

Use the construction set. :)

*Edit*

Also it is generally a bad idea to install/uninstall mods in the middle of a game, without doing a clean save, but personally if I'm making major changes I just usually start a new game.
