Frequent crash

Post by Raitei »

Hey guys I have a very annoying problem with OBLIVION

My computer spec is :
MSI 915PL Neo-V
GIGABYTE GeForce 6200 128MB 64bit
Intel P4 3Ghz
WinXP Home Eidition SP1

The problem is the game frequently crashed and the computer restart without I push the reset button myself, and after logon to windows i received error message that the system has been recovered from serious error. I have downloaded the patch, new vga driver, but the problem still occurs, what I have to do? downloaded the SP2? its too big and my internet connection so slow. I really thank you for all of you who can solve this problem

You may have many problems. The most obvious to check would be if you've got a screwed up disk. Another would be that while running the game you go over the amount of space the computer can hold, and it deals with it by crashing the computer. One more I can guess is you have a computer virus that is turning programs off and on without you knowing it, which will eventually cause a crash.

Sounds more like a graphic card problem to me....

But a security thing first....get SP2, I don't really know why people think that after 2 years they shouldn't have SP2 integrated in their OS. The computer world isn't save anyway, so why make it even more unsafe for you and for all your friends who might get SPAM mails or Trojans because your system was compromised....
Ask a friend with a better internet connection to download SP2 for you and burn it to CD, or you might even mail Micorsoft, I think they send out SP2 CDs for a small shipping price.

Now your game problem...

Your specs are at the low end of a playable Oblivion, 128 MB graphics is quite low for a game that should be played with Crossfire or SLI wired graphics. Your CPU is just okay...but how much is your memory ? 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB ?

If you know how...change your settings so that you get the actual bluescreen error, if you know the error code you should be able to determine what the problem is by googleing it.

It's probably either the graphics ( may be that your card gets to hot and shuts down after some time ) or it might be your memory, did you recently buy a new RAM stick by chance ?

My RAM is 1 GB, by the way, I guess you're right, it might be because my vga card is too poor to play oblivion, although I have no problem when I played Doom III, and Call of Duty 2, or it might be SP2 is urgent to play Oblivion, I guess I must search for SP2 right now.

Shouldn't be the OS, but check SP2 out anyway....

But it might be your graphics...you could try Memtest overnight to find out if it's one yof your RAM modules.
