Pieces of the Blade (spoiler alert)

Okay, so I went to the museum of artifacts in mornhould and spoke with the curator. She says that she doesn't know if she has any pieces of the blade but she does have a weird shield. In order to get it, I need to part with two items. Is the said shield in fact one of the blade's pieces?
You can always become stronger in Morrowind, but it's never enough. PM me if you know what I'm talking about.

Another thing, how do I get the piece from karrod? He won't talk to me even after I've fought him.
You can always become stronger in Morrowind, but it's never enough. PM me if you know what I'm talking about.
