Spells not working properly

Post by Scaramouche »

Hello.

I've recently started on Oblivion, which is a brilliant game. However, I'm having a problem with two spells. One is Finger Of The Mountain; the other is Wizard's Fury. I have the idea that these spells re supposed to become more powerful as the character advances. However, they aren't. Both spells remain at the level they were when I first gained them. Is there a way to fix that?

Thanks.

I don't think so - not without cheating, anyway.

Thing is, the power of them rather depends on your level when you get 'em, iirc.
(Like the ring Thoronir gives you: if you are low level (1-5) when you get it it provides 10% protection to Fire/Frost, but if you don't do the quest until you are around lvl 10 or more, it provides progressively higher protection).

Same with those 2 spells.

Which means they STAY at the level they were when you got 'em. BUT they get cheaper to cast as you get more skill in the Destruction school.

I had the same problem, I did the Finger of the Mountain quest early on and was very disappointed that the spell did not become more powerful as I did.
That's one of the huge flaws in the game in my opinion, the monsters being levelled up as you are, i won't go into that now but I hoped that spells would at least do the same.
The one consolation is, that apparently if you do that quest late on in the game, when your level is very high, it costs a staggering amount of Magica to cast, well beyond the usual Magica available to a caster.

Is there a way to re-initialise the spells at higher level using console commands?

Sorry to Fable, that it took me so long to reply forgot to check in, but i didnt know that there was a full quest how do you get the full quest started. If it has anything to do with talking to tha argonian at the chorral mages guild, ive talked with him plenty of times after giving him the book or do you have to give the book to that one chick.

Then you really didn't do the quest--you just acquired the book for the mage. (I wouldn't call her a "chick." That chick could wallop your butt halfway across the island. ;) ) I'd suggest you check the walkthrough for more details. Remember, the walkthrough here at GameBanshee is for quest questions. And if that doesn't help, and the database doesn't have the answer, then open a new thread. :)
