Post by Bloodaxe »

Disarming chests involves a little mini-game. Do a search on "disarm" and you'll find some threads about how to do it. Level 1 chests also show how to do it.

SWC
Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

hi there

First u should raise your thief skills like disarm trap, inspect and open locks.
Each chest has a level this indicates you also the power of the trap.If u find for ex. a chest with lvl 3 and u have your thief skills by 2 u should have no problem disarming the trap. But be careful it would be wise to have your thief skills set to the level of the chest. If the chest is some lvl higher then your thief skills your chance for opening it will decrease. My tip:Raise yor thief skills.Good luck! :D

When using Bash option to open a chest, you only need to worry about your Strength attribute stat and the Inspect Trap skill. Also, if a chest is of Level 3 or higher you don't have to press the last trap icon. It's true that you take damage when you Bash a chest, but its not that much as you can quaff a potion if it is earlier on in the game. I personally got really good at Bashing chest (Lv9-12) with 4-5 trap devices at only a 1% odds (really fast). You have to plan out ahead of time what trap comes. I eventually started giving each trap symbol special names..."balls", "penis", "thrasher", "spider", ect. Like a code, giving those idols meaning. And at 1% odds and 4-5 trap symbols present, I couldn't do it if the very first two trap symbols were the first ones appearing on that trap chart...(I couldn't move my mouse quick enough).

But, after raising a few low strength characters, I've noticed points into Disarm Trap...allows you to get better equipment from chests. I'm not totally sure, but that was my impression. Can anyone confirm that or at least does anyone get that same impression?

But, I do remember the first time I tried to open a level 1 chest. I kept setting the trap off over and over and over again...killing my character ...because I didn't setup the "quick spells/potions buttons" so that I could quaff a potion. Ah, the memories. It's kind of fun looking back on those memories of opening my first chests. LOL. The innocense of not knowing any better...good times.
