Help Please -- Just Finished BG2

Post by Fsujonn »

Just finished with 14L Valygar, 15L Minsk, 17thL Anomen, 12L/14L Jan, 15L Edwin, and my mage at 15L. The game does not auto save after the final scene. How do I either get back to the towns or how do I export to BG2 ToB? Will I have to fight the last battle again and then save somehow? I do not have a manual since I bought this at a used bookstore -- best $6.00 I have spent due to the time one spends. I would appreciate any suggestions.

The final battle was not as hard as I would have expected after reading some of the other threads with much higher level characters. Anomen's Blade Barrier and Edwins Mord Swords broke through the demons and then animating a few skeletons and the swords pretty much took out Irenicus after dropping his defenses with Breach spells while hitting him with arrows and bolts from the rest of the party. Didn't even have to change into the slayer.

well if you had ToB installed it should have gone through a cutscene then started you on ToB

and after you kill him there should be a Final Save slot made automatically

don't see why it wouldn't... are you fully updated?

You could also got to ToB, click "New Game" and then click "Import Game", targeting the Final Save.

You should've watched all the end movies and credits in order to start in ToB.

Thanks for your help. I had to re-install ToB and the game picked up after I had to slay Irenicus again. Thanks!!

a bit off topic but you missed out on alot of (side) quests if your pc is only at level 15 at the irenicus battle. last time I played a mage he was a tad short of lvl 15 before heading out to brynnlaw around 1, 800k exp. anyway enjoy ToB good to hear that your team was able to kill Irenicus at such low levels, ToB is alot harder but I'm sure you'll manage.

Well, it all depends on how large your party is.

I have ToB installed.

I started my character at level 7. A Blade.

I haven't done any quests for Bhodi. I just payed her.

I just hit level 24.

I'm soloing.

to clarify, I always have a 6 man party with ToB installed. If I could I'd take everyone :D if only for the dialogs. you must agree however that a level 15 pc is a bit low for the end of SoA. He must have skipped many side quests. edit:

Tch. I'm level 26 at the moment and I've yet to do any quests for Bhodi.

I told you Blades rule.

Well, I'm guessing that he did his stronghold quest and a few random quests, including the underwater city optional quest.

The first time I played BG, I did have a 6 person party.

I think I was either a Sorcerer, Avenger or Shapeshifter.

As shapeshifter I remember that I got to level 14 when playing multiplayer with my friend, before paying any of the two parties.

I realize that I have missed quite a few side quests so I am going back to finish those. Fortunately, I have saved the game at key points and I am able to go back to complete most everything. Thanks for the input.

Better still - start up a new party and play through again! That way you can use NPCs that you did not get to use in your first run through :)

If you do - consider taking Jan and Korgan - they are a riot together..

Korgan is 1 insane dwarf :D I'm a big fan, but as for Jan....... he is good in the beginning but after a while I got tired of his combat cries and voice. his dialogs are first class but he never spoke to anyone. It was really rare to get one of his dialogs, but then again for best results you have to take Anomen whom I did'nt have.

I have saved the game at key points
Fsujonn I envy you my saving habit is handicapped :) (Limited to auto and quick) If I were in your position I'd have lost 20+ hours of progress sigh... and it has happened in the past

@Crenshinibon: yes blades are highly underrated, I used to think of them as on par with a beast master this is clearly not the case, offensive spin is very good.......... but a fighter/mage or even a berserker-->mage is still better IMHO. If only due to having the HLA's of both fighter (Greater WW) and mage (all of them own), as well as access to level 9 mage spells. chain contingency 3x horrid wilting is the best nuke out there. another issue is the uselessness of Defensive spin, in a fight with multiple enemies if you get surrounded enemies will take down your mage buffs rather quickly regardless of AC. Then it's game over due to low hp and worse attacks (compared to tanker type).
they are good for a roleplay expierience, as support tanks. Another "plus" would be there stronghold which is alot better than either Nalias keep, planar sphere, or Marella's Cabin.

Jan only good in the beginning? With the possible exception of Aerie, Jan is the most versatile and easily among the most powerful NPCs in the game. He is the only true thief that you can take through to the end of the game. His ability to get UAI, along with his mage abilities make it worth hearing the turnip comments. Don't like Keldorn?--let Jan swing around Carsomyr. Give him defender of easthaven along with his adventurewear for a permanent hardiness (combine with basic stoneskin/prot MW to make him a rock in melee fighting). Time trap to ensure Time Stop>Improved Alacrity>Improved Haste>Breach>Assassination. Double him up with Vhailor's Helm. The possibilities abound.
