Is this cheating? (SPOILER)

Post by Jolly Jumper »

Do you think is cheating to get the differents containers the game offers you trough CLUAConsole:Create Item?

My point of view is

The Bag of Holding is an extraordinary magical item that the characters would not be able to make by themselves so I think is cheating to get it that way.

OTOH the ammo belt, the potion case and the scroll case are things that anybody can make by himself. Moreover it is unbelievable that one scroll ocuppies the same space in the inventory than a great halberd. So I think it is not cheating to get these things at the beginning of the game.

I expect your opinions about this.

Yes, I would personally consider that cheating because you spawn in an item you don't have access to at that given point in time.

But seeing as this game is mainly a single player game, I do not think you'll hurt others then possible yourself by cheating so it is basically only up to you if you consider it cheating :)

You could always use one of the many mods that allows greater size stacks of ammo, scrolls and potions so they don't take up quite as much room in your inventory - I see that as less of a cheat than spawning items into the game :)

Yes, it is cheating, but since you're the one playing the game, who cares? I don't find a person to be a cheating or bad player if he alters his stats to have a bit more dex or cha than the creation panel offers if he feels that his character should have it.

So yes, it's cheating, but it's a single-player game where you don't diminishes anyones gameplay by doing so, so whatever floats your boat!

Once you`ve played the game straight, at least once, then i think anything goes.
I know that if I roll the dice long enough I can get great starting stats for my character. So I don`t bother - I just give myself what I consider to be fair for my class.
I give myself as much gold as I need. I know that if I scratch around long enough, I can get as much gold as I want, but I`d sooner be doing more important things.
I always give myself the bag of holding for obvious reasons.
If you think it`s cheating, it`s only yourself that you`re cheating - enjoy yourself and do whatever you need to do to make the game more enjoyable.

It's minorly cheating. Some people boost all their stats to 25, or just CTRL-8 them all to 18... which is a lot worse.

I suggest Ease of Use, and just install things like item stacking (it allows you to hold more gems, potions, scrolls, ect.). It makes a lot more sense that way.

Thanks for your replies

I know that what we are talking about is cheating. Use a code to get something you are not allowed to get at that time is obviosly a cheat.

But my point was a different one. Maybe I didn't explain well what I meant.

Dont you think that sometimes videogames have a couple of things that dont make sense?

In terms of roleplaying and if you were an elf living in Athkatla, don't you think that the ammo belt and the potion case are items wich Ribald in the Adventurers Mart should sell?

For me, it makes much more sense if these items were sold there than find them in a box nowhere.

Maybe it is a way to justify what I do although I dont care really much. I always try to play without change anything except one or two things that I think are more logical in other way.

Thanks again
