Alchemy

Post by Lin »

I just got the Alchemy skill. I was wondering how it works? Can I pick plants like the Ophelia Wort I saw earlier? Is there a skill level needed to be good at this? Where can I find Mandrake Root in the wild?

I'm no Nether expert but I'm sure when you kill an animal and pick a kataal from it, it gives a higher quantity. I have an alchemy skill of 3 and I'm sure I have been getting more kataals.

hi

Yes alchemy is used to extract more nether kataals from the dead animals and i would suggest to raise it to lvl 5 for now.Mandrake root is a nether kataal wich you cand find in the Vale of Ruins and by any Harrobark Walker(the big trees). :D

Honestly, I too am not really a fan of the Nether spell, nether katal, alchemy thing...but, I would say you need more than just 2 points in it to see any difference.

I think I noticed getting at least 1-2 extra katal pieces when my Alchemy skill was at least up to 3 or 4.

I suppose it would be more fun to have Alchemy up to 10 in the beginning of the game so you don't have to pick up so many katals in vain...but, that's not how this game was designed. And with the Bargain skill and Honor stat, one gets tempted to just buy infinite katal pieces or infinite spells...so as the whole Alchemy, Scribe, Channel thing becomes rather somewhat disenchanting. I still pride myself on not taking the cheap way out, and by this, I mean holding onto playing the game in a natural adventuring way (and not a Wallstreet, capitalistic, greedy, more money for me)-kind-of-way. But, that's me.

But when you run low on money the extra katals you picked up can be sold so you can afford the next thing you want to buy..
