Staff of the Magi - Spoiler
Staff of the Magi - Spoiler
I`ve never used this before. From the splurge that comes with it, it has spellcasting facilities. How do you use these? There doesn`t seem to be an icon for them.
that stick
the SoM is one of the best items in the game - I make sure that if I am going to get a dualled mage later, I put points in staff as a fighter. hitting dispels the enemies protections - it's a great de-buffer and with spell-trap, invisibility and protection from evil whilst equipped it is a top class item. I recall it also improves AC - what a weapon!
I use it with Celestial Fury as my alternative big-hitter. ***** in katana and *** in staff and you can de-buff AND stun enemies, so that many missions are quite do-able solo. a critical hit by CF does a lot of damage when you've girdled up with strength. I feel a bit like Gandalf when I have the staff and CF - a real warrior-mage. I am so pleased that CF is +3 because that stops it being redundant against magic weapon defences - but after SoM at ?+4? has de-buffed, it is only the intrinsically MR that you need worry about.
SoM really is worth the battle with the Twisted Rune.
I did find a way to beat the TR solo, which I think involved protection from undead and pf magic scrolls plus some form of negative plane protection. one of the funiest parts was when one of the TR cast an area effect and made another TR hostile.
liches often seem to make that mistake, in my experience, but usually get away with it.
anyhow - equip with SoM and rock!
