KotOR runs like molasses on my new system

Post by MikoSquiz »

So, I recently decided to play KotOR 1 and 2 again. 1 doesn't run too good, though.

I've got an Athlon 64 3000+ with a gig of RAM and a 6600GT, and I get about 5-10 fps most of the time, with occasional spurts of 30+ at random. Turning the video settings up or down doesn't seem to have any effect one way or the other - the game runs exactly the same with everything at maximum (8xAA, 16xAF etc) as it does with everything turned down (no AA, no AF, low textures, no shadows, no grass).

It's patched to 1.03, of course, and I've got the latest nVidia drivers as of last week.

Any ideas?

Hi MikoSquiz. Welcome to the forums. :)

I suggest heading here to see if the solutions mentioned will help with your problem. By the way, this has been asked many times before so do a search and you'll be bound to find somethingl. :)
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

I did try searching first, but couldn't find anything that seemed relevant to my problem. I was wondering whether there was a known issue with, say, the 6600GT or A64 processors or something, or possibly if it's just the known issue of KotOR running badly no matter what you run it on. :)

DesR85 may be referring to one of the planets--the sand-based environment--that has a known bug causing tremendous slowdowns. If that's your problem, search on its name. If your problem is more generic, and you don't get any responses in a couple of days, I'll move your post to the Tech Support forum. :)
