After dual classing, when do you start to gain levels in your original class agian?

After you dual class, you can NEVER gain experience or put levels into your first class.
You can use the abilities of the first class after you reach the experience equivalent of that class with your second class.

you can never advance in class 1 again - agreed
you can use your class 1 abilities once you reach the level of class 1 +1 level in class 2
so for example
for a level 5 fighter, you need to be level 6 cleric to get the fighting abilities back
or thief level 4, requires level 5 mage to use thieving again.
and you start at 0 xp in the new class, even if you have oodles of xp unused from the previous class.
