TOB Viconia Romance Question *SPOILER*

Hi,

I haven't been able to start the Viconia Romance in TOB. I'm using the 4 in 1 box set with the TOB patch. I finished the romance right through SOA and my LOVETALK is at 77. Viconia was in my party at the end of SOA an came with me through to the beginning of TOB.

I've now killed Gromnir and I've not had the romance start yet. The only thing that made me think it was still going was when I talked to the harlot in Saradush and Viconia made a comment about me coming back to her instead.

On my save immediately after the fight with Gromnir my EXPLOVETALK was at 3. and VICONIAROMANCE has been at 2 for a few saves before then.

Any ideas? I gather Viconia's romance is much more plot-driven than it was in SOA and is it just that I need to wait for the next plot event? I would have thought something at least would have happened by now.

I seem to remember some dialogue sometime around the 1st test in the abyssal fortress that generally resumes the romance. In any case, your next main encounter--The Master Wraith--should jumpstart the romance if for some reason it was stalled.

I've managed to get the romance going again but have run into another problem. I've got to the scene when Viconia is meant to change alignment, but she hasn't. She just said she needs to think about it for a while.

I've had the dialogue when w rested and she wanted to resume our physical relationship and I said I wanted the time to be right. I've had the later scene where she asked me how it felt when I killed. I've tried that with a few of the dialogue options and they all ended with her saying that I had given her something to think about.

My EXPLOVETALK was at 8 after that scene. I then went straight on to the fight with Yaga Shura and after that I had the dialogue scene with Viconia, said the carnage was horrible and that I hated it and she simply said she needed more time to think. My EXPLOVETALK was 11 after that scene. VICONIACHANGE has been at 4 after that scene and for a few saves before that.

I gather that was the scene where it was possible for Viconia to change alignment. Have I missed any scenes or did I say something wrong? Should I just have left a little more time between finishing the Forest of Mir and going after Yaga Shura? I haven't one the Watcher's Keep yet.

Any ideas?

The alignment change doesn't come directly from the post-Yaga Sura conversation, though your answers there will be important to making it happen. There will be a few more conversations as the ToB progresses and you have to make various decisions about your attitude towards power/killing/Bhaal/etc. Eventually, Viconia will say something along the lines of "I guess I'll try not to be evil," which will really be the only evidence of the alignment change, other than confirming in stats.

Some things to keep in mind though: while the alignment change is neat from a role-playing perspective, it really does not have many other positive effects on the game. You can still romance her without the change. She will also lose the ability to wear the skin armour, which is pretty much built for her; and perhaps the biggest drawback is that the alignment specific Holy symbol that clerics get at level-25, she will no longer be able to use.
