Valygar: Ever give him the Staff of the Ram?

Post by Klorox »

Since he's a great backstabber, I'm considering this option. I might be better off with him dualweilding though.

Any opinions?

I can't remember all of the weapons I've given to Valygar, but I don't think I've ever given him a staff. But I don't see any reason why the Staff of the Ram wouldn't be a good choice. I'd put a couple of proficiency points in Two Handed Weapon Style, and I would make liberal use of Critical Strike and Invisibility Potions.

You can't with Carsomyr because it's not a thief weapon normally. But IIRC quarterstaff is a standard thief weapon.

Correct on all counts.
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a person does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses their intelligence.

Staff of the Ram is the most damaging backstab weapon in the game!

How much of the damage will actually be mulitplied?

Like this?

(1d6+12+1d4)x3+other modifiers for strength and similar?

( 1d6+12 + proficiency_bonus + style_bonus ) * backstab + strength_bonus + 1d4

1d4 piercing damage are not part of the weapon's damage bonus. It is treated like elemental damage and thus added at the end.

Unfortunately, the +1D4 piercing damage is not implemented.
