How many statpoints do you get?

Post by De_Priester »

How many statpoints will you get throughout the levels?

Clearcut question :P

And what stats benefit the most to pick early on for example

Constitution for additional hitpoints each level
Int for additional skillpoints

etc etc

Attributes increase every 4 levels. Common Feats every 3 levels.

It depends on what kind of character you are playing.

Strength: Fighter, Barbarian, Paladin
Dexterity: Rogue, Bard, Barbarian, Sorcerer, Wizard, Monk
Constitution: Fighter, Barbarian, Monk, Ranger
Intelligence: Wizard, Rogue ( even more skillpoints )
Wisdom: Cleric, Paladin, Druid, Ranger, Monk
Charisma: Paladin, Cleric, Sorcerer, Bard

And what is the max you can get in one stat? Say you roll a Drow Sorcerer. At the starting screen you can get up to 20 Charisma. So by the time you hit level 20 you can have 25 Charisma? Or is there a cap on the number of points you can spend in one Ability?

There is no cap in normal DND on how much you get for an ability score. Hopefully it's the same in NWN2.

As for what you get, you gain 32 attribute points at the beginning of the game, HOWEVER that's not without a cost of it's own.

All ability scores start at 8, costing you nothing, Each of them does not just increase by 1 point to gain one more ability score.

Ability score-point cost
8-0
9-1
10-2
11-3
12-4
13-5
14-6
15-8
16-10
17-13
18-16

Then you also gain 1 point every fourth level, which this does not go by that point cost above, you can get it anywhere. Assuming there is only 20 levels in NWN2, you can gain a bonus of 5 points anywhere you wish by 20th level.

Heh. I wonder what thought goes behind the concept of spending more than two-thirds of all the points you'll ever get before the game even starts.

It works as Siberys says. However, the highest you can put your stats at creation is 20. Afterwards you can improve them however.
