Do any of you include the Bard in your party, I've been thinking about swapping one of my fighter types for him?.
Any thoughts?.
Bard
I personally don't like them. They don't support as well as a Cleric and they don't cast offensive spells as well as a Sorcerer. But they get Diplomacy as a class skill which makes them unique among the casters. Any attribute boosting supporting casts they might have should combine well with a Dragon Discipline's bonus attributes. Then again, the same might be said for some of the Sorcerer's casts. I wouldn't pick those for a combat character though.

Bards have been my favorite class since .. uh bards.
While I prefer how bard songs worked in NVN1, bards can still have a major effect on the party. Bards give everyone access to a unique source of dammage, inspire courage. Thats 3 to attack and 3 free dammage with every hit for your party, forever. I don't know a spell that does that. Inspire regen is also a nice way to heal your entire party without using spells all the time.
As far as a bard's spell list, think tactically. One of my favorite combos is Inpire Jarring (-2 will saves), to make better odds for Mind Cloud (-10 will saves, and have your way with illusions, enchantments, and anything else that gives a will save. Also you will never feel uncomforatable in a horde of baddies as long as you have gostly vissage and mirror immage.
Bards work in a party, but play them for the roleplaying. High charisma, diplomacy, and bluff is can be just fun to sweet talk or con you meet.

I've always liked Bards as well. Ever since Haer'Dalis. (He WAS a Bard, wasn't he?).
Anyway, yes, they are weaker than Sorcerers, but have the same ability to cast a lot of the same spell, and their Cha and Diplomacy are great bonuses. Also, they have some Rogue abilities which can be useful. All that sounds like damning with faint praise, lol! But they are excellent for role playing.

Brad rocks!! I finally decieded to make a bard/he is now lvl 6/. And he is awesome!! You can have always have one 'Bardic music' active and i mean ALWAYS: while fighting, casting, pickpocketing etc. Witch gives +damage+hit, +skills, +ac.While that, you can sing a 'normal' bardic song too.For example i have the +hit and damage active, and if we encounter enemys i sing a curse song too, so my companions have +dmg+hit and the enemys -hit-dmg-saving throws!!You can choose with natural leader background with gives all party members +1 to hit (and -1 saving throws to you, but it's worth it) also you can pickpocket and have a LOT of conversation features like bluff diplomacy lore with means u don't have to fight in every situation(for example when in the start of the game you get into the swamp for a shard u can convince the lizardmans thaht u are the rock god and u don't ahve to fight them). And the spells are good :healing, hold person, rage!!,sleep, charm. And he isn't bad with longsword or with a longbow. All in all a REAL role playing experience!
Sure, bard as a roleplaying character in multiplayer is great, and can eaven be fun in singleplayer, but if i red your question correctly i believ you were asking about the annoying gnome you meet in chapter one. Is that so? If it is i can't say he's any good, not eaven for roleplaying. Well, i havn't really traveled that much with him because i just can't stand him. Maybe some fun plots will turn up but i havn't had the patience with him to try it. I say skip him. But, hay, that's me.

I agree with all of that! As i said earlier, Bards have always been a favourite of mine, but I started off playing other classes to see how they played - and after trying Human Cleric, Halfling Rogue, Drow Wizard, and something lese I can't remember, I decided Tiefling Bard was the way I just HAD to go. Good in melee, good Bard buffs, some rogue skills, great Diplomat - altogether a great allrounder. You need to make sure she has CON and STR of at least 10, preferably more (but don't sacrifice INT or CHA) if you want to use her in melee, though - and I do. And give her a good DEX, for armour class.
