Kighthood. Where and how do you become a Knight. (spoiler maybe)

Ok I was in Bravil and I got the quest to join the knights of the white stallion or something like that. Now I wanted ot know if every city has something like this or what other orders of knights I can join. Where to find then and all that fun stuff. Thank you

Isn't that a fake knighthood? I may be wrong but I believe that its just one guy who "accepts" you as a reward and nobody else knows about it.

Knights of the White Stallion is legit (spoiler:

you have to do a couple of quests for the count of Leyawin to become a member

Knights of the Thorn is quasi-official (spoiler:

You get in if you rescue the count of Cheydinhal's son from an oblivion gate. The town guards scoff at the Knights of the Thorn, but it is sponsored by the count's son, so I guess it's worth something

The Blades is official but secret (spoiler:

You get in if you rescue Martin from Kvatch and then ask Jauffre to join
