Help! Aarin Attacks Me!

Post by Everis »

Hi all. I'm new to the forums, so sorry I don't have much of a profile right now. I just needed to find a place to get some help because this is driving me crazy. I'm playing the original NWN, intent on finishing it before I allow myself to buy NWN2. I'm in Luskan, and am having trouble once I deal with the two high captains. I looked around online and every site I looked at seemed to agree that at least one of the captains must be killed in order to gain what is needed to get into the Host Tower. So, I killed Baram and all his minions that attacked me as a result.

Invincible necromancers and ridiculously large numbers of other nasties aside, when I go back to the Temple of Tyr (whether by foot or stone of recall), Aarin and all the priests attack me!!! I tried finding help with this by looking at guides and walkthroughs, but it seems to be fairly unheard of. I'm so confused...can someone please help??? :(

This sounds as though it could be some kind of a bug... It has been a number of years since I played the OC, but I definitely do not remember Aarin attacking me after killing one of the captains.
Do you have your game patched with the correct patch?

Yes, I actually originally had a problem getting the patches and only just recently was able to get them. I'm almost positive it was the right one anyway; someone else got it for me since I was having trouble. Everything else from the patches has worked though, so I assume it was the right one.

Definitely sounds like a bug, here.

And the Auto-updater patches are the best place to get them.

NWN runs without the CD/DVD, so there aren't any problems with patching due to the No-CD/Dvd crack.

Latest version I know of is 1.68.

Okay so I finally had a chance to check on which update I have, and I do in fact have the 1.68, which is listed as the current one. So why does Aarin still attack me? Any ideas? Or any advice on how I could go about finding the answer to that? I'd really like to finish the game. :(

Similar issue

I have a similar issue. I have completed Luksan Tower, but when I return to talk to Aarin Gend, both he and my NPC are attacking one of the monks. I am unable to talk to them and therefore can't finish the chapter. Gutted. Please help before I go mad!

A solution!

After much digging on the internet, I found a solution!

Press ` to get a command prompt and type:
DebugMode 1
Then press ` again and type
dm_spawnitem M2Q5F_LUSKANKEY
This stops the fighting and you can talk to Aarin and end the level.
Before you do this, however, you should turn debug mode off.
Press ` one less time and type
DebugMode 0

Oh, capitalization matters.

Enjoy!
