Ranger in Umar Hills

In the Walkthrough on this site, it states that if you buy the kids the ale as a Ranger, you lose your stronghold. So what happens if you just buy them the bastard swords? Do you still lose your stronghold as a Ranger?

Nope.Although I did buy them the swords before I got the cabin,so I wouldn't know what happens if you did it after getting the cabin
