Will I still be able to play BG1 on Vista?

Post by Gabi »

Will I stil be able to run my old BG games on Vista. I need to buy a new computer and it makes sense to wait for Vista but I will be really mad if I have trouble running BG 1 on it. I want to be able to play Elder Scrolls IV on the new computer so I will going for a high end Graphics card but will this give me problems with running BG1?

Any advice will be gratefully poured over and incorporated into the decision making process.

Well.....meh. It was just the beta version, so keep this in mind, but a friend installed the Vista Beta on his comp, and it really screwed up the whole system. So, to be honest, I'm not sure it would be a good idea to wait for it. You probably wouldn't get an answer one way or the other until it comes out and someone tests it either.

Nope, BG1 is not possible, at least on the beta vista I tried out, that new open beta anyways.

I tried quite a few old games actually, BG1, Diablo 2, Icewind Dale 2, none of them worked and it made me so mad.

If it works on your old computer, you can keep that one around for old games.

On Vista: I've heard people who's judgement I trust who tried the beta and were really enthousiastic about it. However, I'm not gonna buy it until I need to. Apart from its supposed quality, you might want to have it for DirectX10.
So, if I were you, I'd buy a new pc with Vista and keep the old one at hand.
