I'm guessing this is a newbie question, but I have looked everywhere and can't find the answer. Is there any way of determining the value of the influence you have with a party member? How do I know if it is high enough or that I have to suck up some more?
Thanks for any help.

There is an in-game influence editor that lets you see how much influence you have with any of your companions, but I don't think there's a way to see how much influence you actually need with them.
The open the in-game editor:
- right-click on your character to select him/her
- hit enter or ~ to open the DebugMode window
- type in: ##DebugMode 1, hit enter
- type in: ##rs kr_influence, hit enter
- the editor should open. When you're done...
- type in: DebugMode 0, hit enter
