is this true, my freind got eleminister into his party while he was just walkin like a normal doode! he also said he romanced nali cos he did a weird quest to free nalia from marring the jerk, this is fake or true?

My friend, after a reply that YOU make I am going to help you. Elminster is in the game but under a diferent name, he show up during the harpers quest (Harpers quest is helping Zxar, Zxar get killed, jaheira leaves the party, gets back, you go with her to the harpers hold, everbody there goes red,some harpers shows up from time to time...) delivering you a note from jaheira, You have to pause the game (if not he moves out of the screen )use the cheat key CRTL + Q to make him join, but that screws up the story line.
Nalia is fake (the quest is not).besides with aerie,jaheira and viconia around who whats her anyways.
You will know a romance comversation from a normal one because a special music start to play.

Elminster is a very powerful NPC a level 29 mage and a chosen of Mystra no less. having him in the party would be very good but will also destroy the game balance.

I have to side with Drakron there. BG2 is not a game you can enjoy by just messing around. That's for when you're playing through after you've already beaten it. Having Elminster in your party would just be lame. Hell, he could match Irenicus spell for spell. What's the fun in that?
