Cursed Imp

Post by BannerDog »

In the Jarro haven, I have come across a cursed imp who does not react. It is in stasis or paralyzed, or some such.

The imp was apparently fixated on the contents of a bookcase.

There is an Ancient Tome or some such in the bookcase that I figured is likely related to the solution.

However, I've been entirely unable to read the Tome. I get a Lore failure.

If I give the book to a character with a high Lore skill, then upon using the book, my character becomes automatically selected. In fact, the physical positions of my character and the character using the book are transposed.

I've temporarily raised the Lore skill of my character as much as I can, and found it to be insufficient.

Pages can be removed from the book, and they then become scrolls.

However, these scrolls are usable only by my character, even though he is not a caster. Each scroll is unusable even by characters of the class and level indicated by the scroll.

The scroll titles are still "encrypted", but the full text of the spell can be read.

When a scroll is used by my character, instead of the indicated spell being cast, another effect occurs - deleterious to the party, or else nothing seems to happen.

Any comments?

Thanks!

Ok BannerDog this is a tricky quest, especially since as you mentioned your lore skill is not high enough as it is needed to identify the mening of the spells in the book.

In the book each spell does the exact opposite of what it is meant to do i.e

Loyalty Spell==Confusion  and so on and so forth.

So to free the imp you need to read the spell which means imprison from the book. Now i'm not sure which because i have'nt played in a while but it was either the second or the third spell in the book that actually freed the imp.
So give that a try. I'll try to post the correct one soon as i am currently on another run through the game.

That brings up one of the fun parts of this game that players often overlook. Sometimes you just need let yourself go and forget about playing the game the right way. I mean, I neglected that druid girl since the moment I could ditch her, so out of pitty I allow her to visit her circle friends. The first two words out of her mouth are "I QUIT"??? Doesn't the hair brained hippy know I'm a finely tuned killing machine? I have never let that kind of insulence go unpunished; that silly tree hugger got snapped in half like a twig. Or that smart mouthed good for nothing lute plucker? I don't even know how I got sucked into that silly contest. I mean I was trying to nab his wallet when he challenges me to something (I wasn't really listening.) Make a long story short, he absolutley humiliates me, so I reload right? NO WAY! "Qara, it's your lucky day. LIGHT HIM UP!" Back to the point, and I have one. Your situation: A demon will get you out of this dungeon if you release this Imp which probably read something stupid from this book that you cant understand. Here goes nothing. Start at the top and start reading. Sure before the Imp wakes up Kelgar might take his axe and whack Neeska in the head a few times, but he really needed to get that out of his system anyway.

Hi Snipercon, Great post, by far the funniest I've seen

You had me rolling on the floor with your post but I have had some similiar crasy things happening in Crossroads Keep and other areas where one character will for no known reason start attacking another part member. The Attacker is Khelghar (needs a good bar fight or two ) and the Attackees have been Keeshka or Elanee. Frustrating as hell.

I found this thread looking for cursed items but the answer to release the Imp is the third one that reads Imprison because as was posted by 'Scrooge' all spells do the opposite of what they read. Imprison frees the Imp for that quest.

I have to back 15 days and restart from that point and I don't want to count how many saves that is in order to fix my problem/bug. I'm starting a new thread on it as a warning about when things start going strange. My Paladin now wants to attack Sand and just recently so does everybody in my party.

I don't dare left click on Sand to check his inventory as my computer hangs solid as rock. The only way to get out of it is to do a forced computer shutdown as you can not leave the game screen.

Forced computer shutdowns are very dangerous to your computer as I am finding out.
