Moving to tech support.

Which internet browser are you using, by the way? Have you tried different internet browsers to see if any of those sites work properly?

Norton is a joke. It hardly protects from anything.

I'm using Firefox but I'm not experiencing any problems.

Does it still not work? Did it give you any error messages? If so, could you post them here?

That is not completely true, but Norton is indeed one of the lower quality virusscanners. You could try downloading AVG and Avast! (via another computer) and let them scan your pc.

If you want to try another browser, Opera is a very good one.

Norton IS a joke. My computer did similar things two years ago, I ran Norton, it found nothing. I ran McAffee's FREE scan, and it found 3 trojans. I signed up, paid for the service, it got rid of them. Since I have been paying for their service and have had no problems since. I have had a virus here and there, but it is always found and taken care of immediately. It may not be the "best" out there, but without any problems, I'm not rocking the boat and trying something new that might not work as well.

Is it still working? Any idea what caused it?

Kind of an old thread but Norton and McAfee destroyed my computer... had to do a factory reset... because one night McAfee updated woke up and my computer couldn't get past the screen on boot up that allows you to pick how to boot up... and Norton never found anything allowing many things to hurt my computer... AVG on the other hand DOES NOT INSTALL malicious software in anyway .... you may think it did but it did not... also firefox is a much more secured browser than IE7... so go with that... and you could consider using a spyware program such as Spybot Search and Destroy it is one that works and I've never had any problems with it.. I don't use it anymore because I simply don't need it anymore considering my computer is sitting behind a t3 server that is dedicated to being a firewall...
