Help! No voices in Windows Vista!

Post by Xschtar »

Just installed BG2 and TOB on my new Vista machine, but there are no voices. Have tried reinstalling I am pretty sure the CDs are not corrupt. Everything works fine but the voices. When I try to play the WAV files manually it says "the file cannot be rendered". Help, anyone?

I don't think you'll find many people who play BG2 on Vista, but the people who know Vista may be able to help. In any case, I'm moving this to Tech Support, with a link back here. Hopefully, somebody will know something.

Is it an RC? 'cause in that case I'd tell you to wait until the official version of Vista comes out.

The 3 people I know couldn't even get it to play on Vista so you are doing better than most. ;) LOL
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a person does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses their intelligence.

I have actually got it working in Vista, the only problem I have are some graphic disturbances in the menu and, of course, no sound but music. There seems to be a WAV-codec missing in Vista, and therefore the WAV-files cannot be played, in-game or out-game. I still haven't managed to identify which codec is missing (if it is a codec problem... but what else could it be?).
