How does xp for different classes work (Especially fighter) ?
Im playing a figther for the first time and every kill gives extremely low xp. Where my clerics, mages, rogues, wizards gets about 66 xp for human kills (Muggers & Prisoners), my figther get only 5, and this is the case with almost all other kills in the game. This seems a really bad character if this continues, its only an average about 1/5 xp of almost every other class i played. Im at act 2 and only level 5, where im used to be 9 or 10. Seriously a problem building my figther/bard/red dragon disciple if i ever should reach a viable build.
I really hope this is a bug or that it flattens out later in the gam, else a fighter looses all multiclass advantages in the game.
Any xp-tables for different classes around? Or anyone care to explain the xp-progress, before i waste to much time on this extremely slow developing character?

XP should be the same for every class - it is worked out by the number of people/summons etc. in your party (eg. you will get slightly less if you have a henchman and a summons than if you were solo). However it is also scaled so the higher your level, the less you get for the easier monsters etc. What level is your fighter? Have you tried restarting from the beginning in case it is jut a bug? Is your game fully patched?

I've been experiencing this as well... Back in the days when I used to play the campaign. Fighters get more exp for mage type enemies, while mages get slightly more for every fighter type enemy.mr_sir wrote:XP should be the same for every class - it is worked out by the number of people/summons etc. in your party (eg. you will get slightly less if you have a henchman and a summons than if you were solo). I play the game solo, and with no summons what so ever. Meldanen gives say 700 exp when I'm a level 8 fighter and only 500-600 when I'm a mage of the same level. Lothar gives more the other way around though.

As Fiberfar pointed out, each class has a certain type of enemy that is easier to beat than others. Fighters are the best in hand to hand combat, hence, melee opponents are easier to beat for them, and garner less experience. A wizard who can survive a horde of melee opponents just dealt with a tough encounter, and gets more experience for it however.

Indeed. The matter of multiclassing and getting a penalty along with killing much more melee-monsters than spell casters could do a lot of damage to a build.Zabicka wrote:There is also a matter of multiclassing. If you have two higher classes and start a third one, you suffer a multiclass penalty which is very high. You should always try to keep your 2nd and 3rd class at simmilar level. is it your case?

Yeah...that would end up being close to a 50-70% drop in experience overall I think when facing the "weaker" type enemies for your character. :speech: That would seriously screw up leveling progression.Fiberfar wrote:Indeed.
