First Viconia isn't a mage.Anyway you should raise her at once or re-load (IMO she's the best cleric in the game).

And about the mage my vote goes to Edwin. I think he is the only true (not dual\multi classed) mage anyway.
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

Viconia's a cleric and the next best mage would be Nalia or Imoen..depending on which one is currently higher in level.

What about aery?

And nalia & imoen are both of a good algiment, so they won't get along with his evil (viconia edwin) party. And you get Imoen in a pretty late stage in the game.

Edwin, without a doubt, is the best mage. All you have to do is check out the number of spells he gets and you will be convinced. He gets something like 3 extra spells (maybe more) per level than he should according to the rules. It must have something to do with that amulet he wears. I think that Nalia is the second best mage, and Jan is very close behind, followed by Imoen and Aerie.

Aerie is useful since she is a cleric/mage.

Edwin-Conjurer, +1 spell slot from being a specialist(conjurer) mage and +1 spell slot because he is a red wizard.Evil aligned.
Imoen-Dual class Thief/Mage, +1 spell slot and she is not a specialist mage so she can cast any spells.Good aligned.
Nalia-Dual class Thief/Mage.nothing special about her.Good aligned.
Aerie-multiclass? mage/cleric have a lot of spells avaible being a mage/cleric but does not the higher levels due to the multiclass unless you remove the XP cap, she is a efective in that job.Good aligned.
Jan-Multiclass is a thief/illusionist mage and he can never reach the higher level that the other mages in the game can unless you remove the XP cap but even if you do that would too long but he does have a +1 spell slot.neutral aligned.
Edwin is the best mage but due to the high reputacion he will leave, Imoen is very good since there is diference in levels that Edwin/Imoen/Nalia can reach in the game and you have no problems with high reputacion and she can cast any mage spells in the game (Edwin cannot learn any divination spells like "True seeing" and jan cannot learn any necromatic spells like "Spirit Armor").High INT is not a problem since there are potions that raise the INT score for some time.
- Waterdeep city constrution.

- Shadowdale low level adventure module.

- Rashmare /Thay high level adventure module.
