I just purchased the house and was just looking around in it, i found a portal in the basement how do i open it?

*update, i stayed in the bed and was attacked by ghosts, i killed them and picked up the skeleton hand and read the note, but i cannot convince the guy to come back with me

Slit his throat. jk. I cant remember what to do, but i faintly remeber talking to the guy who sold u the house and he will go there with you. If u have done that, then venture downstairs and u have to do something down there.(Maybe the quest where you pull the torch on the wall?)..uhh memory loss

If you've found him at the imperial city in some pub, can't remember name, you either have to make him feel guilty or show him something, I can't remember ,sorry
