I used to have a notebook that ran Windows 2K Proffessional. I could use the Task Scheduler to schedule an mp3 at 8AM (and naturally start up my laptopt in the process) in the morning. It made a nice alarm clock.
These days I run Windows XP Home edition. I no longer tinker with software and computers as much as I used to, so I can live with its limited functionality. The task Scheduler is gone too, but I want my alarm clock back though.
I can find all kinds of software that can schedule a shutdown, but I'm having less luck at finding something that can do the opposite. It doesn't even need to be able to open up the mp3 at 8am like the Task Scheduler can, I can handle that by inserting an mp3 link in the startup directory. As long as it can start up the computer at a set time I'm good..
Does anyone know of some software that will do the trick, or some other means to invoke Home Edition with task scheduling prowess?

I don't use stuff like this myself so I'm not sure precisely what your requirements are, but the below link is on a recommended list I often refer to for quality free software:
