BG1 Tutu: how compatible?

Post by fable »

I've been wanting to play another run through of BG2 and BG1 for sometime, preferrably with BG1 having all the benefits of the BG2 engine and character interactions. But I also want to run many mods on BG2--so just how compatible is BG1 Tutu, in general, with WeiDU compliant BG2 mods?

It installs in a completely different folder, it's not even in the Black Isle tree by default, and once installed runs independently of SoA/ToB, so will not affect any mod in BG2.

Edit: This means of course mods in Black Isle/BGII - Tob will not affect Tutu, so if you want any mods for Tutu you'll have to download and install them seperately.

PPS All item files in Tutu are prefixed with an _ so you'll have to use Tutu friendly mods. Ease of use wont work for example, unless there's a Tutu specific mod for it.

Blast--well, but I like Ease of Use, quite a bit, in fact. However, I think there's a mod that provides a few things in BG1. I'll think about it. Perhaps I'll just install TuTu and use it solely on BG1, then uninstall completely, and reinstall BG2 with all the mods.

There's no need to uninstall and reinstall BG2, as I tried to point out, they are independent of each other once Tutu has installed.

Mods that work with Tutu as well as the EasyTutu mod can be found here Infinity Engine Modlist - BG1Tutu

Point taken. I suspect it's just senescence that led me to miss that. :)

Thanks. I visit that site frequently; it's an excellent resource. But in all the time I've done so, I remained unaware they had a subcategory of mods set aside for TuTu.

The TutuFixpack contains the Ease of Use mod along with most of the other popular mods.

Give it a try as I have been having a blast with it.
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a person does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses their intelligence.
