What's the highest bounty you've had?
I've played Oblivion more or less all the way through with half a dozen different characters of wildly different skills & personalities, from noble warriors to pragmatic mages, and the highest bounty I ever had with the biggest scofflaw among them (a fairly ruthless thief) was around 2000 gold. This time I wanted to run a full-bore sociopathic assassin who truly deserves to be head of the DB. She's completely indifferent to material wealth, so usually when she runs into a guard she just does her time (and spending her life in and out of prison seems to fit the character). But during a recent string of missions she didn't have time to be bothered with jail so she had to resist arrest and kill a few guards here and there. When she finally had things wrapped up to the point where she could take a little break she turned herself in. The guard dialog was one I never heard before, almost like he was afraid of her and he was relieved she wasn't resisting arrest. Anyway, the bounty was 56,390 gold, and when she went to jail it was almost a year of game time!
Can the answer to this question be "No"?
Wow!
I don't think I'vr ever had that much gold at once. Makes me want to start a guard killing spree with my assassin just to hear that dialog you mentioned. What kind of infamy had you built up?
To answer the question, my highest has been 40. I didn't even realize I had been seen taking anything. Sloppy on my part I guess.

Hm.. it would be nice if actual bounty hunters started coming after you. Kinda like in Vampire Bloodlines, if you broke the Masquerade a few too many times. Only good.

My record is about 130,000 at one time, Whenever I needed to kill somebody (for their armour or something) I slipped on my Cowl of the Nocturnal. That allowed me to build up huge amounts of bounty and then take it off for no consequences. When a guardsman would come up to me he would say something along the lines of "You're the gray fox, you're under arrest for...for...for lots of stuff"
Other comments like that are hilarious.

I've had over 7,000,000(spoiler)
I was using the infinite money glitch on that dude in the Talos Plaza district. I kept stealing the money from him while the guards were watching. I kept turning myself invisible to get away from them, and then paralyzing him, and taking more money. I had to kill a few guards to get back to my house, and then paid Armande Christophe 3.5 mill to make it go away.

This would probly be the best way of income from the game if you ''knew'' the sewer systemleprekhan wrote:I was using the infinite money glitch on that dude in the Talos Plaza district. (Get in 'n take, maybe even confistcate some things or two.) Step out for some fresh air, letting the gaurds see you. Then get 'em lost in the sewers
Btw, my bounty's only been slightly above 100k but thats when I just started playing & began freekin out since every gaurd was saying "You should've PAYED the fine!" at every encounter...

Once, I decided how long I could play a character with a bounty, constantly resisting arrest. After a while, it got boring, I was up to about a 100,000 bounty, and I decided to start doing bad things besides killing guards. So I started killing innocents. And stealing.
Anyways, I was eventually up to around 250,000 when I got bored and quit playing the character. It was fun while it lasted, though.

Yeah, I have. But this is going slightly off topic in my opinion.bmusic721 wrote:Has anybody ever gooten a dialogue from a guard that went something like this? (by the way my fame at this point was 58 and infamy 47)
The max I've had was a measly 10k. Tried sneaking about the best I could and avoided having massive bounties, even while doing the Brotherhood and Thieves Guild quests.

I think my highest bounty was something like 9,150,000 I went on a rampage and killed everyone I seen. It took me a good few hours to get it up that high, mind you. I ended up having all the guards in the Imperial City on my back The only way I survived was cause I had a robe, hood, 2 rings and a necklace all enchanted with Chameleon Although I didn't actually keep the file I saved it before I did it.
Well I don’t care if it’s Gods own anti-son-of-a-bitch machine or a giant hula-hoop we’re not going to let them have it. What we will let them have is a belly full of lead and a pool of their own blood to drown in… AM I RIGHT MARINES!!??
maybe a Spoiler
My highest was somewhere around five or six hundred. That was just because I couldn't figure out how to kill the vampire hunters in Skingrad (for the mages guild) without guards coming so I just turned myself in and got into the dark brotherhood.
I figured out later you were supposed to tip them off about the vampires in the cave, which made me mad because I needed the money

Wow...all the times i've done that quest, I never knew you where 'supposed' to tip 'em off about the cave See, i've always succeeded in discreetly taking all the hunters & vamps out myself :laugh:Red_X wrote: I figured out later you were supposed to tip them off about the vampires in the cave, which made me mad because I needed the money

Ya, I think there was a glitch in mine just because I did tip them off, they just didn't do anything. Telling them is supposed to make the quest easier since the vampires take the hunters out for you but wheres the fun in that?Mz_Trixter wrote:Wow...all the times i've done that quest, I never knew you where 'supposed' to tip 'em off about the cave See, i've always succeeded in discreetly taking all the hunters & vamps out myself

the highest bounty i,ve ever gotten was 70,000.
In Bravil after you,ve completed the main quest you can kill the ruler guy. So I walked in, went up to the second floor got out my daedric bow of thunder(+30 lightning damage), went into sneak(lvl 100) and fired an arrow into the ruler guy's head. Of course being a weak drunk he flew into the air. Before he hit the ground I had every guard in Bravil after me. So i got them into the center of the room and used the Finger of the Mountain Spell which killed all of them. Then I went to Bruma with my ebony blade and killed everyone.
My fame is over 200 due to completing all of the good quests, and i had over 100 imfamy for misc. thieving jobs and murders.
After you get the Finger of the Mountain Spell its fun to use god mode and see how many people you can kill before a guard can talk to you(i've gotten over 100 dead before a guard could talk to me).
