Changing, as you've no doubt noticed already, will lower your rep by two points. That's it.

For now. :D

There seems to be another consequence to the Slayer transformation that I noticed. I (Elven Mage/thief, chaotic good) turned into the Slayer to defeat Kangaxx the Lich since all the other way mentioned here didn´t work. I used the transformation only once (Kangaxx is a piece of cake if you´re the Slayer) but since then, my a flaming aura surrounds my PC when he is about to enter another area or step through a door. This aura doesn´t do any damage to me or my other party members, it´s just there. Anybody any idea why this is so ?

Odd, @Nagroth. Can't say I ever encountered that before. I have to wonder whether it isn't a bug.

I've had it once or twice also - whether it's a bug or not, I don't know - I didn't notice any consequences of that "flamming aura". ?

I've had the same thing happen to me. It's not a bug. I believe it may be that those are the effects of losing your soul to Irenicus. Notice how your character sorta bends back, like they were hit, whenever it happens? It's probably them reacting to losing their divine part.

Oh, and for the person who changed to the Slayer to beat Kangaxx, another easy strategy is get a Protection from Magic Scroll. Trust me. It lasts for a long time. Get the Staff of Rhyn too or some other +4 weapons. Before you reassemble him, read that scroll. You're immune to everything. Including his Demi-Lich's Imprisonment and Wail of the Banshee spells. You'll need the +4 weapon since those are the only kind that hit him when he's in his final form.

Curiously enough thief's traps harms him pretty well, too. As you know, the ring of Ram besides hitting displaces the object. My Keldorn had used it on Kangaxx and moved it to NE corner of the tomb, where several (6 or about so) Jan's snares were still intact. Kangaxx collapsed immediately after that. I checked out, it was definitely Jan responsible for the death of the Kangaxx ("most powerful enemy vanished").

I lost all my abilities?

I remember during the dream when irenicus asked what will you give up.

I chose Constitution. All my abilities were lost to me now.

Garbage: that has nothing to do with what you chose to give up, since irenicus stole your soul, you lost all your "godly" abilities

@Oleghinn : regarding the thing with the Protection from Magic Scrolls... yeah, I read that too, but couldn´t get any. I tried both Ribald and Deirdre but they didn´t have them. Unfortunately, there also seems to be a translation problem sometimes. See, I play the German version of BG2 and sometimes the English names of the items do not exactly correspond with the German names. Did anyone else, who plays a non-English version notice something similar ?

Nice theory, but I've played all the way through the game four times (once with ToB) without ever seeing this aura. I wonder if its a side effect of your video card, or older drivers.

The mage/thief misses the thac0 and the number of attacks, so I think the Slayer form is probably the best.
Otherwise I would use the cheaper Protection from Undead scroll(s). Cast and use Melf's Meteors and probably one summon with +4 weapon (some Elemental or Mordenkainen's Sword) also with Protected from Undead.
I don't anything about the flaming aura though. :)
