Misfit parties: any success stories?

Just wondering if anybody has tried out any "misfit" stories... like having characters like Gnome Barbarians, or Half-Orc Sorcerers, stuff like that.

Did you have a good time? Were your characters/parties successful?

I'm not sure if this fits under your category of misfit, but I did run a few atypical parties. Once, on this very forum, somebody brought up the idea of running through the game with a bunch of paladins and a cleric. I thought that was an interesting idea, so I did it. I played two paladins, a fighter, a barbarian, a priest of Lathander and a priest of Oghma.

I never reported back because I found it quite dull indeed. But it wasn't hard to win normal mode, even without a thief or a mage.

That person with the paladin party idea almost sounds like me. IIRC, though, I was thinking of taking a few different paladins and one or two different monks.

Drax Firefoot; male strongheart halfling, Fighter/Evoker (in the end 15/15), CN, STATS (at the beggining): 16 13 16 18 10 3 (not part of a powergaming party, he was the only character with low CHA; didn't take rogue levels on purpose)

wielded greatsword and chain of drakkas (+ lots of magic items)

fun as hell to play

Don't remember the rest of the group, though. AFAIR there was a dual wielding bard, pure cleric, ftr/rog...

But he was just awesome to play!!! :D :D

I played the Hands of fury (comes with the game)

featuring

fighter with 10 in str :D

Barb ripped physical stats **OK thats good

Druid good mental stats **Ok thats good too

rogue 10 in dexterity

"tank" cleric 14 str 12 dex 10 con :p (wis 14 useless ch 16)

mage 18 int **Ok thats good

And for the most part they all had lame feats like ambidex dual wield on the 10 str fighter

Note: this party mercilessly abused legions of enemies and made the guardian wish he was never born...albeit in normal mode.
