What if they die?

Post by QuenGalad »

I'm being quite late with my second run trough ToB lately, and so I have to watch out and not read endings for evil npc's.

And then I had a thought - what if someone dies in the final fight? What happens if one of your companions gets killed, terminally, with no resurrection possibility? Does the ending sequence still appear for them?

"And so Viconia left for the underdark... no, wait... Whisper: She was reduced to cinders in the last fight, you idiot! Oh? right. Right. Ekhm... And so, Viconia's ashes were taken back to underdark..."

Logical speaking if the party is no longer able to resurect them, the NPC is kicked out of the party. That would mean that it won't get a ending screen at all.
But I haven't checked this. So I'm not sure

Sage plays a paladin,
because other classes would be frowned upon for laying their hands on a wounded companion

And the real answer is (I know this because I can't get Jaheira to survive the last fight for some reason... ever):

The dead character gets automatically resurrected for the final scene.

Even if she splatters? ô_O

PS. A victory without Jaheira is NOT a victory!

Dedigan's words ring true.

Strangely, when I first did the final battle, Minsc died (but his corpse was intact). When I was in Ellesime's throne room, he was alive, but without his gear.

Now that's weird! Imagine you're romancing someone:

"- Darling, we are now one step from your destiny... And know that, shall I fall in this fight, I will go down loving you to the very last of my breaths...
- Don't be stupid, you know everybody is resurrected for the ending scene!"
