Can't get to final battle

I'm sorry if this has already been posted, but the search option does not work, I don't know why.

Well, I just can't get to prod the buttocks of the last opponent! Wherever I walk into that rather disgusting door and say "time for finals" , the door tels me "not all is ready, you must complete other tasks". And I did complete all the five trials. No doubt about that. The problem is, I don't have a save before the last trial, so can't repeat it. Can I do something?

Any help would be very welcome. I wished to claim my heritage this time...

I think that happened to me recently - and I am scratching my proverbial trying to remember why. I have an inkling that there is something you need to do which isn't particularly difficult :

*check your journal carefully - are there any outstanding quests?
**check your inventory
***check with Cespanar as to any Shiny Ones he's interested in
****speak to any NPCs who are not in your party
(*****I can't remember if you can revisit the general map areas at this point - if so, take a wander about)

I think I had one of those 'is that all it was?' moments afterwards
