infinite view distance mod

Post by d-mac »

Can someone give me a link for the actual file for the infinite view distance mod for pc, and possibly a decent link to a pc-to-xbox mod conversion how-to?

The Elder Scrolls Source - Oblivion Modifications and Plugins

It's not a mod. It's an application. It's only good if you have a decent graphics card. Otherwise it just looks terrible.

(The link says oblivion but it is for morrowind.)

I went to the site but I couldn't find any information on recommended GPU's (I didn't really think I would, but I tried).

What do you think a minimum decent graphics card would be in order to utilize this application? Thanks.

A very good card, a decent CPU, and a lot of RAM: that should do it. Essentially, if you have what it takes to chug at reduced viewing more or less in Oblivion, you have more than enough to use this mod in Morrowind and get remarkable visual results. However, the mod is still in development, and some things simply aren't rendered correctly (or rendered at all) using the mod. Some of the screenshots are incredible, but crashes remain frequent if you read the various lengthy threads that have been created over time on this mod.

I think it's worthwhile pursuing, but the end result is still a ways off.

@ Fable. Actually. All is rendered. It can now read statics but you pick the size so it goes ok depending on the computer you're using.

My Specs
Intel 3ghz processor.
512mb RAM
256mb Graphics memory. (ATI sapphire 1050)

My Setup: (The data I put in on the distant land mesh creation.)
Texture: Both the 1000 x 1000. (I can't remember the exact numbers.)
Mesh: Medium
Statics: First 800 Second 1000

This looks fairly decent from the ground (not from the air) and it only takes about twenty seconds to load a cell.

They're still getting complaints about incorrectly rendered objects, however. We're perhaps engaging in linguistics, here. Whether everything is rendered or not, I think we could agree that whether they're rendered correctly is a considerable problem for some.
