Can't change & keep resolution

Sadly I've not managed to change the resolution of IWD2 in my favour.

Since I believe IWD2 is one of the best games ever made, I still love to play it. But as the game hasn't been updated, my hardware has, and is now capable of playing the game in the highest settings easily.

I want to play the game on my PC and my notebook. On my PC I have a 19" LCD screen, which has a native resolution of 1280*1024. My notebook has a wide screen: 1280 * 800.

Both resolutions are not officially supported. But with a lot of other games I can force the resolution by editing the ini file. I've tried this with IWD2 as well, but without success. Everytime I start the game, the resolution jumps back. After that the ini file says: resolution = 800

The maximum I can set is 1024*768.

I’ve tried several options:
- 1280
- 1280*1024
- 1280x1024
- et cetera

Another strange thing is when I enable 3d acceleration (or rendering or something) in the ini file, it jumps back as well.

I have system, with an Ati videocard x1650x series, 1GB corsair LL dual channel ram, amd 4000+ …

Can anyone help me to play the game on my PC and notebook in a proper resolution?

Stupid question: have you tried 'unlocking' screen modes through the configuration screen, instead of editing the .ini file? Aside from 1024x768, it also offers 1600x1200 and 2048x1536.
