All of them, all 44,955,169,983,360 possible combinations of characters, all seemingly balanced are quite fun to play if you consider oblivion fun to begin with.
(Oh, and that number is accurate, there really are almost 45 trillion combinations of characters you can play in this game)

We all have different preferences. For example, I love the Altmer. They're the only race I ever play, and The classes I make are quite similar:
Sorcerer
Alt.
Conj.
Des.
Myst.
Ill.
Alch.
Hvy Amr.
or
Philosopher
Conj.
Des.
Alt.
Myst.
Res.
Blunt.
Ill.
or simply a pure Mage.
If you want a 'violent' character, I'd stick with melee fighting, just a generic warrior. But it all depends on you.

If you like warrior type characters, I've got one piece of advice. As Ironic as this is, do not choose the "Warrior" birthsign for your warrior type character.
The reason for this is because as a warrior you'll be spending much of your time leveling up skills that bring multipliers to strength and endurance, and since the maximum attribute is 100, starting off with a super high strength or endurance for a warrior character will not go very far.
I'd recommend the Steed or Tower for personal tastes. If you like to run right up to the enemy at incredible speed, kill them quickly and run to the next, go with Steed. Or if you like dungeon exploring but don't always have a lockpick on hand, the Tower is a good choice as well.
