Execution Scene (European Version)

Post by Mister_Ennui »

In the European (PAL format) version of the game the introductory execution scene is apparently slightly different from that in the US/Canadian version (NTSC format), in that in the former one does not actually see the Sheriff decapitate the PC's sire. According to (the not always reliable) Wikipedia, due to fears that showing an actual decapitation would not enable the game to pass the German ratings board, the European version of the scene was cut slightly.

Does anybody know a way of restoring the original NTSC version of the scene to a PAL version of the game?

I know I could just but the NTSC version, but I'm curious as to whether there's an alternative solution.

Cheers

I've not heard anything about it being possible to restore it, but I guess it depends if the video/code or whatever is still there in order for it to be restored. I can't imagine you are missing much though except seeing your sire just turn to ash in the same way as when you sneak kill a vampire. However I have the UK version so I've never seen the uncensored video myself.

I think the whole issue is just a rumour and there never was a real decapitation scene. If you look closely at your sire as he is burning you can see his head is still attached...

I have just acquired the US version and can confirm...

that there is absoulutely no difference at all from my European one! The decapitation scene is exacly the same.

That was money well spent then.
