mind flayer dungeon- help

i'm in the dungeon, i have charmed a flayer with circlet and put him in front of the locked door, but nothing is happening! i have tried many different things, party near, party away from flayer. i did this quest along time ago before when i played, but cant remember what i did to make it work, any ideas what i did or how to make it work??

Select the mind flayer and use it to open the door in the same way as you would open a door using one of your party members.

No, you just have to put the mindflayer in front of the door. If you select the mindflayer you will not be able to select the door (it will not highlight when you scroll over it). Not sure what you're doing wrong.
Are you sure you charmed a mind flayer and not a Ullithid? Ullithid won't open the doors.
As this is not your first run-through I'm sure I don't have to tell you wich doors you have to open with a mind flayer right?

You can also try to change into the slayer. He is able to open the door as well.

i have no idea, decided to just "cheat" my way thru to get it over with. i know, bad me, but just wanted out of there. i didnt cheat last time so i figure im ok, lol
