I'm thinking about changing my avatar.

Would this only cause confusion? Is this something people do in this forum? And, if so, is there a limit to how often you can reasonably do it?

Feel free to change whenever you like... :)
I've seen some members change theirs, 2 or 3 times a week in the past..
There has even been a challange or two, where members changed to theme related avatars in the past..
so pick up something you like and go with it....

Yup, changing your avatar is definitely something that people do here, especially a lot of active members do it every now and then. It won't really cause confusion, you'll lose a little bit of recognisabillity (sp?) for a short time, but then again, a new avatar can also draw attention. Also, your name still sticks above the posts, so we will all still know it's you. :) The only ones who might not recognize you inmediately are the ones who are skipping very fast through entire threads, but then again, these persons are mostly looking for something in particular, so there's no harm done.
I don't think that there is an actual limit to how often you can change your avatar, at least I never heard anything about that. And I don't think that people will actually really mind if you do it very often, if you do it several times a day a moderator might say something about it with raised eyebrows, but that scenario is a bit extreme of course. ;)

I say: if you are not happy with your avatar, then there is no shame in changing it. It also can be refreshing for others. So be my guest. :)

It's a sculpture by Bernini (17th century). It's called The Ecstasy of St. Teresa and can be seen in a church in Rome.

Glad you like it! :)

BTW, my sister is named Tilda.

Edit: I should add that it's not Teresa herself, but and angel piercing her heart with an arrow.

Maybe you could rotate the works of art you pick.....LOL :D

Actually I have a whole bunch of them ready from when I made my first one. But I'm saving them, so be patient! ;) :D

And here I was, expecting something more Ultima Thule-related in your avatar :p

Wow!!! I really love your avater Naffnuff, it's both very beautiful and different. The contrast between the light colour on the dark GB background looks good too, stark yet lovely in its simplicity.

I have occasionally considered changing my avatar to something from one of my favourite paintings, but I'm attached to this one, so it is the one I stick with.

Nice avatar, Naffnuff. :) If you want to change your avatar, just do so when you feel like it. No hurry. ;)
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

Gee, thanks, everyone! :D

@ Fiberfar

Thule is where my feet are, but not my heart and soul!
Edit: Also, the fact that I refer to my country in Latin terms is to indicate that I like to see it from a Continental perspective.
Edit: Or perhaps my heart but not my soul (or was it the other way around?). ;)

Her heart and her "entrails". The angel was naughty. He is pointing his arrow at her... um... entrails. ;)

Why, Lady Dragonfly!  Well, I suppose there is a certain amount of freedom of interpretation left to the spectator in any work of art, even one as apparently chaste as this one. ;)

So long as you're happy, we're all happy! :D
