Wand of Wonder and Wild Mage
When I find the wand of wonder, will I get to choose the effect with my Wildmage like am supposed to be able to or is that unemplimented? Same with Deck of Many Things?
I know what is being referred to... In 2nd edition a wild mage had a percentage chance of being able to control magic items with a random effect which included but was not limited to: Wand of Wonder, Deck of Many Things, and I think Cubic Gate...there may have been others...

Yeah, thats what I am talking about. It includes Well of many worlds and some others. It is one of the wildmages most powerful abilities in that he can use exceeingly powerful artifacts no one else can use. I just got the Wand of Wonder form the mindflayers so I will test it, but I am not holding out. A wildmage is supposed to have a 50% chance of casting any spell he knows with it. (although it requires more charges form the wand. So a wildmage can fire off timestops reliably from a wand of wonder in 2nd edition. One of the most powerful items ever made in teh hands of a wildmages. It is essentially a wand of anything you want at the time.

Great news! It appears the wand of wonder is implemented for teh wildmage, albeit differently from the core rules! The Wildmage gets the same effect everytime he uses the wand of wonder. It shoots four (yes four) spells in one round. In sequence, Fireball, Lightning Bolt, Stinking Cloud, and Web! It appears that since it is using wildmagic it has the standard 5% chance to wildsurge. I have a new favorite wand!
Going to have to check out the other random effects items like the Deck of Many Things.

I remember that the wand cast those same for spells, in sequential order as well, not for a wild mage however,I don't think, but never at the same time. You're sure this is correct? I didn't think that anything "specific" to a single class would be implemented.

Well, I haven't used it with a non-wildmage, so I have no comparison. But it definately fires all four spells off one charge. It takes I think one orund to get all four spells off. Are you saying that it does this for all classes. I thought it had random effects including random petrification and such for other classes. With the wild mage, one use casts all four spells for one charge in a single round.Crenshinibon wrote:I remember that the wand cast those same for spells, in sequential order as well, not for a wild mage however,I don't think, but never at the same time. May it be that you fired the wand at an item? The Wand of Wonder isn't the only Wand that does strange things when fired at an item.
