range of traps?

Post by probe53 »

I am not sure how far traps can set off at...

i use to think the target has to run over it... but sometimes, an enemy pretty far from the trap gets killed by it...

how do i know where the enemy must go to set off the trap?
and also, all my traps seem to go off on the same person if set before.... is that how it is suppose to work?

A trap has quite a range of detection, so an enemy can trigger a trap from a great distance. Not sure exactly how much in game feet, yet it is 60' or higher.

If your traps are hurting your thief instead of the enemy, this means that your skill in trap setting is inadequate and the set trapping attempt was unsuccessful. Your thief will take quite a lot of damage. So keep your trap setting at 105%(because sometimes even at 100% I get a failure). There is an item sold by Deirdre(a bonus merchant) which increases your trap setting by 20%. Also, dexterity bonuses either from Draw Upon Holy Might, Gauntlets of Dexterity/Potion of Agility or Potion of Mind Focusing improve all your thieving skills, including Trap setting.

no... im not having trouble setting the traps... but im having trouble with the fact that when i set my traps (because all you see is a jaw-circle) i set them next to each other...

when the enemy (who seems rather far away) comes, it triggers ALL the traps and waste it....

i was wondering whether the traps had a large range... vertical, horizontal, circular.. or something... that would explain why all of them are triggered... which is explained by you.

now the problem is how do i set traps that wont all go off on ONE target... i ment to establish a trap for each member...
