I was wondering whether the Shivering Isles expansion is a decent buy. Most reviews I have read about it seem to say that the expansion is very boring and done half-heartedly by Bethesda. Any opinions?
Thanks in advance

I only have about 15 hours in Shivering Isles so far but I have enjoyed the new monsters, spell components, and the hilarious events and dialogue in the main quest line. Oblivion core game its not, but how could it be. Remember how everyone fell on thier faces when Oblivion was fgirst released due to the HUGE size, the intracacy, the over 100 subquests ( I have only found 104 so far). I really don't think you can do it again on the second time around but this WAS an expansion pack, not another game entirely. In my opinion, as an expansion pack, it does a good job, much better than Dungeon Siege II "Broken Worlds did as one example that immediately come to mind. I do think a price of 29.95 was jsut a bit steep, but the pack with tghe official plug ins was $19.99, and using that as a guide Shivering Isles is much better bang for your buck in my humble opinion.
Have you ever considered that the sole reason for your existance is to merely serve as a warning to others?

I Liked it!!
The main quest in SI is a blast and Sheogorath is THE most entertaining character I've run into in the whole Elder Scrolls world. But once the main quest is complete, there isn't as much to do - no long complex quest lines like the Guilds in Oblivion. But the scenery in SI is gorgeous and the monsters provide tough fights, particularly the big bug like creatures.

Thats what I heard too, that the expansion is too combat orientated with too little interaction.
I really am tempted to buy it but the idea of creeping in dungeons and what not for most of the time doesn't sound all that appealing to me. Anyways, the reason I play Oblivion is because it is not a hack and slash game.
