The Simpsons Movie - with real actors!

Post by TheAmazingOopah »

With the Simpsons movie coming out in the near future, I got an idea resembling the thread about a Baldur's Gate 2 movie: if they made a non-animated Simpsons movie with real actors, who should play who? Obviously, it would suck big time compared to the real series (just like a real Baldur's Gate 2 movie would be cringingly bad), but let's just take that aside; after all, we're not actually going to make this movie, we're just going to have some fun here. :D Nonetheless, try to give your best shots. I'll start:

Mr. Smithers - William H. Macy (or otherwise as Ned Flanders)
Dr. Hibbert - Danny Glover
Groundskeeper Willy - Sean Connery, taking a break from his retirement and dying his hair red :p
Kent Brockman - Leslie Nielsen
Cletus - Steve Buscemi
Dr. Nick Riviera - Dave Foley (the guy from NewsRadio)

The best I can up with right now. Help me out!

While I can't think of the particular role he'd play (not caffeinated enough yet :D ), I could definitely see Robin Williams in a Simpsons movie.. :D

I think maybe Geena Davis for Marge?

Dr Hibbert!! (sp?) :D

Though that would require quite lot of makeup... not impossible, though...

Geena Davis as Marge? Somehow I can't really see the resemblance there...
(Not that I can think of anyone better ;) )

Hmm, perhaps Robin Williams would make a decent Sea Captain? I mean, he already did Popeye, Sea Captain isn't that far off. Or wait, Sean Connery should play the Sea Captain, dressed up as a sailor with a heavy American pirate accent! I already see that second Oscar waiting for him...

Fat Tony - Paul Sorvino
Mr. Burns - Either Anthony Hopkins, or a heavily slimmed down Kurtwood Smith (Red from That 70's Show), both with fake teeth
Troy McClure - Brad Pitt, David Hasselhoff or Greg Kinnaer
Kang and Kodos - Xargul 2 and Fluzzo the Blob from Star Galaxy Z
Baby Gerald, a.k.a. One Eyebrowed Baby - Danny Devito
God's voice - James Earl Jones

If he could do Pop-Eye, he can most certainly do Homer!

lol! I was thinking of Geena Davis in her role as Thelma in the movie Thelma and Louise. Er....don't ask me why, I can't exactly explain why I drew a resemblance, it just sort of happened :o :D
The weird thing is, I don't, in fact, even see Thelma and Louise as a comedy... So, I'm not completely certain where that came from ;)
Or actually...maybe I wasn't so far afield :D

Oh yes, I remember that episode! Especially the end where they drive their car off the cliff... :D

Haha, that was awesome! Really well done! :D I'm guessing that that was done by Brits. No, I didn't really mean something like that (though I'm guessing that you were joking ;) ), I meant actors/comedians who look like certain characters and could act well enough to be convincing as the character. However, celebrities only is probably the most fun, because it's the most recognisable to most people. I mean, your cousin Mike might make a fantastic Krusty the Clown, but we wouldn't know him so it would be less fun. ;) Still, thanks for sharing that video. :D

I apologise for my lack of imagination here but how is it be possible to make a non-animated movie adaptation based on a cartoon series? With videogames (or books for that matter), its possible, but with cartoon series? I think it will look very weird if a cartoon series suddenly becomes some non-animated version of itself if you ask me.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

Oh yes, definitely weird, not to mention crappy. I probably wasn't very clear in the first post, but it really isn't my hope that a Simpsons movie with real actors will be actually made. I just liked the idea of trying to find actors and actresses who look like Simpsons characters, just as a fun game. Compare it to the thread dedicated to a Baldur's Gate 2 movie. Regardless of if such a movie would work or not, picking the right actors for the right characters is just a fun thing. It probably does take some imagination, and it probably is also an extension of my admiration and likeness of all the Simpsons characters, so probably not everyone finds it equally entertaining. So not to be rude, but if you don't see the fun of it I guess it's best if you'll just leave the thread for what it is. :)

Hehe, yeah, that's a funny parody. I came across it recently together with two other Simpsons artworks: one where the family is seated in the living room as a parody of The Sopranos, and one where a group of Simpsons characters is drawed in manga fashion. I posted those in the Humour Redirect thread, worth checking out. ;)
