Problem with 'Model Citizen'

Post by Zeemort »

Ugh, I dunno what happened; I did the quest, set up the cameras and ran the cam check as I was meant to, and everything was going fine.
I go back to see Imalia and despite there being a newspaper on the table saying that Tawni was caught on camera, and despite the fact that I can't have been seen, since I was using Obfuscate the whole time I was in the apartment, Imalia is pissed off and says I got caught.
Is there any way I can fix this using the console, or am I going to have to try and see if I still have an autosave? My last save point was in the apartment after I'd already set up 2 cams.

This is a common complaint. Basically, while you're in the apartment, if anybody so much as says "Huh?" you're done. It's total black op. It's not about being seen, it's about them noticing that something isn't right. Anything that reflects that will get that response from Imailia. That is one of the most trying quests as far as patience goes, because you might have to crouch in one place for a long time to find the exactly correct time to move.

Obfuscate doesn't really factor into it, I think. You have to make your moves, not because they aren't supposed to be able to see you, but because they can't possibly see you.

Annoying mission without obfuscate

Yeah this mission is annoying without obfuscate.
With obfuscate level at least 2, you can move freely around crouched, and only have to be careful when you're placing the cams than activate obfuscate again. If you don't have that - active blood buff a lot to help, as it increases dexterity and your sneaking feat.
You have to wait until they move somewhere for you to move - like her boyfriend heads to the bathroom so you go and place the cam on the room. Than wait crouched behind the blinders until he gets back to watching TV, to place the cams on the bathroom, and so on.
If the boyfriend has a gun in his hand, even if he didn't see you, you blew it. Like Jhereg just mentioned above, you cannot even get noticed. They can't even notice a noise. So this is a frustating mission. Save before you do it if you really want to complete it (she gives you cash, I think 500 bucks and XP). Good luck and be patient.

Thanks for the help guys. I've pretty much given up with it this time around, but I've got a couple other files running so I'll keep the tips in mind for when I get around to the mission again.

I had the same problem, basically i had to restart to a save file before i entered the building.
Then i went crouching all the way to the apartment, including the first floor.
One of the reasons is, i thought the NPC could listen to you even from upstairs, so is better to be careful. No running in the lobby.
(also because on one of the post here someone suggested to do the mission in 1 go without saving but i dont know if thats the case because i saved 1 time before going to the apartment)

Because i was using a tremere i used trance a lot, and it made it easier.
