TOEE wont launch WITH patches

I have played TOEE, for a couple of years. My old PC (emachine) melted down
(processor and motherboard fried), so I bought a new HP pavillion dual core machine with running at 1.86 GHHTz for each processor, and i have an Nvidea Ge-Gorce 7300 GS vid card with 128MB of ram on card and 2.0 GB of System ram. So the system is solid. I am running XP home.

The game installs and will play with some bugs:
1) no looting unless you go into combat mode
2) I can have only 2 saved games and a quick save, all other saves delete previously saved games.
3) If I install any patches I get a spinning CD icon that never stops or I get a run time error.

I enjoy playing TOEE, it is my favortie game, but this is really destroying it. Can anyone help Please? Ian

I'm having the same problems as you, head to this link for a comprehensive fix. It's a bit involved... I'm doing it right now:

With the exception of a crash here and there the Circle of 8 setup works great. Also had a weird thing where it reset my video card but other wise great fun, hope ya get it working too.

Don't give up hope, you two. Sometimes you have to go thru' the process a couple-or-three times to get it cleanly done. ToEE is a picky mistress, with great rewards for patience. Good-luck & good gaming.
