Throne of Bhall install problems

I decided to replay BGII SoA again because I never finished the expansion- BGII-ToB. Just finished BGII and tried to load BGII-ToB... message says BGII is not installed and shut down install.
The only problem I had with BGII-SoA was the shortcut Icon to BGII.exe file would only bring up install option. When I changed the shortcut to go to the BGMAIN file it worked fine and I played the game to the end. I did install the gamepatch for BGII-SoA as I usually do this when playing beginning games.
Any suggestions? I installed BGII-ToB successfully once before years ago when I beat SoA the first time but don't remember having this problem then. I never finished it due to changing computers.
Info: I have original disks from BGII-SoA & ToB. Windows XP pro SP2. Thanks

The game isn't entered in your registry, I would suggest backing up your save game and installing the game, then copy your save game into the save or multi-player save directory (as appropriate). Hopefully that will get you back on track.
