Scandinavian Countries in Communications Technology Race

Post by Faberge »

After having dug to a depth of 10 meters last year, Norwegian scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the Norwegians, in the weeks that followed, Swedish scientists dug to a depth of 20 meters, and shortly after headlines in the Dagens Nyheter newspapers read: “Swedish archaeologists have found traces of 200 year old copper wire and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the Norwegians.”

One week later, Kainuun Sanomat, a Finnish newspaper, reported the following:
“After digging as deep as 30 meters in potato fields near Ristijarvi, Pekka Heikkinen, a self educated archeologist, reported that he found absolutely nothing. Pekka has, therefore, concluded that 300 years ago the Finns were already using wireless.”

That one was good...

I'll give you one in return:

Finnish man, Swedish man and Cindy Crawford were traveling on the same train, in the same cabin. At one point the train went inside the tunnel. As the train was one of those old trains, there weren't any lights and thus it was pitch dark inside the train. Suddenly, there was a sound of kissing, followed by sound of hard slap. After the train came out from the tunnel, Finnish man and Cindy were sitting like nothing had happened, while Swedish man holded his hand on red left cheek.
The swedish man thought: "Okay, probably the Finnish man kissed Cindy, and while it was dark Cindy accidentally slapped me."
Cindy thought: "Probably the Swedish man was trying to kiss me, but instead kissed Finnish guy, who slapped him in return."
Finnish man thought: "That was good! Next time we go to tunnel I'll make again the sound of kissing and then I can again slap that stupid Swedish guy!"

No offense to any Swedish person, and to those who doesn't know, we Finns have such love-hate relationship with Swedish people... :D
